History of our Church
In April 1971 an informal group of local Christian Scientists organized and held services in the Charlotte County Library. As the attendance increased larger quarters were obtained in the Veteran's Building on Old Englewood Road. In the Fall of 1974 land was purchased and plans to build a new church were completed. The corner stone of the church was placed on Thursday, January 30, 1975. The formal opening of the new edifice took place on May 25, 1975. In the same year the church met the requirements to become First Church of Christ Scientist, Englewood. Dedication services were held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 1992.
